Art
One of the strengths of the Fine Art collection lies in the early twentieth century British art production. This includes works by the Slade School artists, Scottish Colourists, Walter Sickert of the Camden Town School, Duncan Grant of the Bloomsbury Group, a small sample of British Surrealists from Conroy Maddox to Eileen Agar.
The collection also contains works by local artists as diverse as James Holland and Arthur Berry. The local landscape is captured in many of the works by artists both living in the area and those who have passed through, depicting scenes from the eighteenth century to the present day, for example John Constable and Julian Trevelyan.
