Eve Midwinter trained in fine art, painting and sculpture at Burslem School of Art but left after nine months when Roy Midwinter proposed. For most of the Fifties, she raised their children while Roy began putting W.R. Midwinter Ltd. at the forefront of British Design. She became involved with ceramics, and although not an official employee, produced many designs for the company.These were colourful, floral designs, which became progressively stylised. By the late 1960's she was producing ranges of topical patterns inspired by Art Nouveau. After her marriage breakdown in the mid Sixties, she became head of the glazes department at Portmeirion, but despite their recent divorce, returned to Midwinter until her retirement in 1986. She still works as a successful freelance designer.
