East Asian Ceramics
The Museum has a large and significant collection of East Asian ceramics, mainly from China, Japan and Korea.
The Chinese ceramics span the period from the Neolithic to the early 20th century and include important celadon wares, from the 6th century to the 17th century, 14th - 19th century Imperial Palace wares and early 20th century Republic era porcelain.
The Japanese collection is particularly strong in objects related to the tea ceremony, which link with the British Studio Ceramics in the Museum's collection.
Although smaller in size, the Korean collection provides a representative sample of ceramics from this region, including celadon wares and an important blue and white Dragon Jar from the 18th century.
