Owl Jug
Owl jug. The body is moulded and covered in an elaborate feathered slip. The cup forms the owl`s head which is detachable, with the eyes framed in trailed and jewelled slip. This important piece, brought to light on the BBC`s Antiques Roadshow in 1990 now occupies a prominent position in the Potteries Museum`s display.
North Staffordshire, late 17th to early 18th century. Height 195mm (body) and 75mm (cup).
