Curators at Work
Curators on Open Display
The Collections Team at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery will be on open
display to the public, as each month they will be cleaning their way through
the permanent displays in the galleries. This is part of a routine housekeeping
programme that began in 2009, and will continue for the foreseeable future.
Update from the Collections Team:
Housekeeping is an important part of caring for the fantastic collections of
Stoke-on-Trent. We want to keep them at their best and in good condition
for you and future generations.
Cleaning throughout the Natural History Gallery was completed in September
2009, and we continued on our way round into the Archaeology Gallery.
However, exciting changes to our displays and ambitions, meant that we
had to postpone our plans to clean the remainder of the ground floor galleries.
For more information on developments, please see other areas of the website.
Our housekeeping has continued, even though you may not have seen us, with
work completed behind the scenes as we tidied and dusted in stores,
sorted through reference material and documented collections.
Check where our activities will take us for the forthcoming year, as we have
set aside these dates for housekeeping around the Museum:
18 May 10am - 4pm behind the scenes in Sculpture Store (postponed)
15 June 10am - 4pm Ceramics Galleries: Art Pottery corridor
20 July 10am - 4pm All Galleries, general dusting following air conditioning work
17 Aug 10am - 4pm Ceramics Galleries
21 Sept 10am - 4pm Ceramics Galleries CANCELLED
19 Oct 10am - 4pm Ceramics Galleries
17 Nov 10am - 4pm Changing Fashions: Jade & Ivory
21 Dec 10am - 4pm behind the scenes in Mannequin and Sculpture Stores
Please ask if you have any questions relating to the housekeeping of our collections.
Thank you.
