Curators at Work
Curators on Open Display
The Collections Team at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery will be on open
display to the public, as each month they will be cleaning their way through
our permanent displays in the galleries. This is part of a routine housekeeping
programme that began in 2009, and will continue for the foreseeable future.
Housekeeping is an important part of caring for the fantastic collections of
Stoke-on-Trent. We want to keep them at their best and in good condition
for you and future generations.
Cleaning throughout the Natural History Gallery was completed in September
2009, and we continued on our way round into the Archaeology Gallery.
However, exciting changes to our displays and ambitions, meant that we had
to postpone our plans to clean the remainder of the ground floor galleries.
Our housekeeping did continue though, with the last few occasions completed
behind the scenes as we tidied and dusted in stores, sorted through reference
material and documented collections.
We are pleased to announce that we are back in the ground floor galleries
for Summer 2010.
Curators have set aside these forthcoming dates for housekeeping:
19 May 10am - 2pm behind the scenes in Photography Studio and Foyer
16 June 10am - 1pm Social History Gallery; pub and kitchen
21 July 10am - 5pm working off-site
18 August 10am - 5pm working at Ford Green Hall, for an annual deep clean
The resumed cleaning of the Archaeology Gallery is set for later in 2010.
Please ask if you have any questions relating to the housekeeping of our collections.
Thank you.
