Mill in Steam (Season)
Dates have been set for this year’s themed steamings at Etruria Industrial Museum.
The historic potters’ mill which ground bone and flint for the pottery industry will be in action on the first weekend of each month. Still powered by a coal-fired boiler, see our 190 year old steam engine 'Princess', operate the historic gears and grinding pans.
The steamings provide an excellent opportunity to see the only steam powered potters’ mill left in Britain working, and to witness the machinery as it was during the height of the pottery industry.
Each weekend will have a unique theme with special events and activities running alongside steaming sessions.
3-4 December Santa Steaming
Join us for our Christmas themed steaming and meet Santa on his annual visit to the mill. The festive atmosphere will also include carol singing and some special treats in our tea room. This will be the last chance to see the mill in steam until spring 2012, do not miss your chance!
