Find Neverland at Gladstone

Visitors can take a trip to Neverland and meet some of their favourite magical characters next Thursday (August 12) as Gladstone Pottery Museum holds a Peter Pan day.

Captain Hook and Tinkerbell will be entertaining visitors with a combination of fairy and pirate activities. Younger visitors can ask Hook to make them a balloon parrot or a pirate sword and challenge him to a duel. Tinkerbelle will be making balloon fairy wings and wands and little fairies can be sprinkled with fairy dust and learn the secret fairy handshake.

There will be free face painting throughout the day and all visitors who come in a fancy dress costume will be given a free gift.  Attendees will be entered in a free prize draw for one of two family tickets to see the performance of Peter Pan at the New Vic theatre this winter (worth £50 each).

The event is part of the museum’s celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the federation of six towns of Stoke-on-Trent as a city and will include magic, plate spinning and ribbon twirling.

As part of the Have a Go activities on site there will be the chance to decorate a variety of Peter Pan characters, including crocodiles and Nana the dog, for a small additional charge. There will also be a Peter Pan trail to follow around the site. The event takes place between 11am and 4pm.

Councillor Hazel Lyth, cabinet member for adult social care, sport, leisure and culture, said: “The magic of Peter Pan is something close to the hearts of so many children and Captain Hook is one of the all time classic villains. I have also heard that the crocodile has been spotted in the Gladstone area and I’m sure that even after all these years Hook will still be keeping an ear open for the sound of the ticking clock.”

Normal admission applies and this event is free to Museum Passport holders. For more information please contact Gladstone Pottery Museum on 01782 237777 or take a look at www.stoke.gov.uk/museum
