Make your donation worth 28% more
HM Revenue and Customs will add 28% to every £1 you gift aid to the appeal so we will raise £1.28. Simply complete a gift aid declaration and either hand it in to us or send it in to the Treasurer:- G.B. Snow, Treasurer of the Friends of the Potteries Museums & Art Gallery, Bethesda Street, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent ST1 3DW. With a covering note specifying that the donation is to go to the Staffordshire Hoard Appeal.Cheques must be made payable to The Friends of the Potteries Museum or The Friends of PMAG.
Note for Higher Rate Taxpayers
If you donate £1,333 and you gift aid your donation, it will only cost you £1,000 and the Appeal will benefit by £1,706 (provided that you pay higher rate tax on at least the grossed-up amount of your donation).
How is this?
If you show your donation on your Tax Return HM Revenue & Customs will give you higher rate tax relief on that donation.
So, for every £1,333 donated your tax liability will be reduced by £333, therefore your net cost is only £1,000 for every £1,333 donated. We receive a tax refund of £373 (28% of £1,333) making the total raised £1,706.
