The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery

This popular museum tells the story of an inventive and industrious city, famous for the creation of the best ceramics in the world. The ‘Potteries’ is also the birthplace of world famous musicians, composers, artists, sportsmen, designers and of course potters!

Situated in the heart of the city's Cultural Quarter this excellent museum provides free admission to all of our visitors. The museum houses three floors of permanent displays and temporary exhibitions including: natural and local history, geology, archaeology, ceramics, fine art, costume, glass and silverware.

  Our galleries boast:

·          The William Blake photographic collection capturing life in the Potteries  in the first half of the 20th Century.

See small displays dedicated to the Potteries inspirational sons and daughters who have each made a huge impact on the world stage, from famous potters like Wedgwood to sporting legend Sir Stanley Matthews; historical giants like Reginald Mitchell, who designed the Spitfire and writers like Arnold Bennett. During your visit spend some time exploring the exquisite selection of pottery and bone china objects on display.
