Future Science
20 Mar 10
To celebrate National Science Week the
museum
will have a free family fun day with the theme of
Science – Fiction. You will be able to meet characters
from some of your favourite films including ET,
Darth Vader, Alien and Shrek.
There will be an interactive show with all these
characters and more in the museum theatre at
1pm, see Darth Vader fight with his light saber and
listen to a musical rendition by the Men in Black!
After the show there will be an opportunity to see these costumes close up and
find out how they were made, you may be surprised to learn that they were all
made from recycled materials. This will also be a chance to actually try some
of them on for yourself.
We have also just learned that two aliens from outer space will be visiting the
Museum and City Central Library on the same day. These two silver aliens
with green flashing mouths and long curved fingers will investigate their
new environments with quirky curiosity.
The aliens are due to land at approximately 11am at the museum and can
be found at the library at 2.30pm. At the library you will be able to make
kryptonite or other special potions to help protect you from being abducted to Mars!
There will be a craft activity during the day at the museum where you can make
your own space rocket and a ‘Alien Storytime’ at the library at 2 – 3pm.
The museum show will cost £2.50 and last approximately one and a half hours.
All the remaining activities are free and the day promises to be highly
entertaining for everyone.
