Heritage Open Days 2020 – Self Guided Walk of Longton

Heritage Open Days, the national celebration of our historic buildings and sites, is a little different this year. Although we are unable to run our usual events and openings while the museum is closed we are still taking part with an online version of our Longton guided walk.

Due to current circumstance this self guided walk replaces one of our popular Heritage Open Day events and you can complete it at your leisure. We’d like to thank museum volunteer Phil Rowley for turning his guided walk in to a self guided one for this year.

Please read the following safety advice –

Please comply with the latest Covid-19 government guidance and observe social distancing – stay 2m apart.

Please take care on narrow footpaths and when crossing roads.

The following pages contain a detailed route and there’s a map on the last page. Please ensure that you are in a safe place when you look at them.

Local Events

There are also plenty of other events exploring our local heritage, from a virtual tour of Shirley’s Bone and Flint Mill to ‘Biking to Bottle Ovens’, a self guided cycle around the city.
