By Thomas Allen, shape no. 774, the mazarine blue ground reserved with a mythological panel of the rescue of Venus, with Cronos carrying the nude goddess under one arm, protecting her from two sprawled figures beneath, the reverse with interlocking roses and flower garlands supporting ivy festoons, all suspended from a purple bow, the panels bordered by gilt palm fronds, the scrolling handles with gilt laurel leaf festoons, the cover with acanthus finial.
