An incomplete silver finger ring
- Object Number: STKMG:2016.LH.24
- Simple: ring
- Summary: An incomplete silver finger ring. Dated as Roman (circa 3rd Century AD). Only part of the ring remains, some of the bezel, a triangular shoulder and the start of the loop. The bezel was originally rectangular in shape with a recessed border around the edge. The end part of an inscription is present with the letters, 'MT'. This is probably the end od a dedication to a deity, for instance, Mars. The loop was probably keeled. The shoulders have been decorated with seven grooved mouldings creating a ridged effect. Recovered through metal detection on land in the Lichfield area on the 18th September 2014. Reported and purchased through the Treasure Act. British Museum Number 2014.T737. The Finder waived his claim to the reward.
